This week, in What’s Happening in Brazil, we talk about the deposition of former Health Minister Eduardo Pazuello in the COVID investigation held at the Senate. Pazuello, who was in charge of the cabinet during the crisis in Amazonas, when severe oxygen shortage in hospitals led to a war-like situation in the state capital, is believed to have lied several times in the testimony.
We also talk about the Federal Police inquiry targeting the Minister of the Environment, Ricardo Salles, for illegal timber exports. For somewhat more positive news, we introduce you to a group whose solidarity actions have ensured that people would not go hungry during the pandemic in the city of São Paulo.
In our Culture Talk segment, we catch up with the project Favela Orgânica, which teaches residents of Morro da Babilônia, a poor community in Rio de Janeiro, to grow their own food and to fully use their crops!
Finally, in Brazilianism, we will teach you an easy and traditional Brazilian recipe and take you back to the 1990s with one of our most famous songs of that time! Join us!
